  1. When is the Compost Site Open?
    •  The Compost Site is open April - November. The exact days depend on the weather. The Compost Site is open Monday and Wednesdays from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am - 3:00pm. The location of the Compost Site is 6300 1st S, Waverly MN
  2. What are the winter parking regulation in the City of Waverly?
    • The winter parking regulations are in place between 12:01am on November 1 and 11:59pm on March 31 of each year. The ordinance states that no vehicle can be left standing or parked between 2:00am and 7:00am on any street or highway within city limits. Click here to view the full winter parking ordinance.

  5. How long does it take to get a building permit?
    • New and minor construction projects typically take up to 2 weeks to process on all necessary documentation has been submitted to the City. The City of Waverly uses Metro West Inspections as their building inspectors. Once permits are submitted to the City, they get sent to Metro West for review. After Metro West has reviewed the permit and applied the required fees, it is returned to the City. City Hall will contact you via phone once your permit is ready to be paid for and picked up at City Hall. 
  6. Who do I talk to about building inspection issues?
    • The city contracts for building inspections with Metro West Inspection Services, Inc. The Building Inspector enforces local and state codes for industrial, commercial and residential construction and improvements. Inspections for new construction, decks, fences, remodeling, plumbing, and mechanical work must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. All building code questions should be directed to Metro West Inspection Services, Inc. at 763-479-1720.
  7. How do I contact the Fire Department for a non-emergency?
    • The Waverly Volunteer Fire Department non-emergency phone number is 763-658-4111. They are also available via email at waverlyfiremn@gmail.com. 
  8. How often do I receive a utility bill?
    • The City of Waverly bills for all utility charges on a monthly basis. Bills are normally sent out via mail on or about the 15th of the month. The due date for the bill is on the 10th of the following month. To better understand the charges on your utility bill, please see this guide.
  9. How can I pay my utility bill?
    • There are a few ways to pay your utility bill. You can pay your bill in person at City Hall, leaving a check or cash in the drop box (ensure your address is attached to the payment), over the phone, or online. To pay your bill online, follow this link.
  10. Who is responsible for paying the utility bill?
    • The property owner is responsible for making sure bills are mailed to the correct address and payments are made to the City. The property owner can ask the city to send a copy of the bill to a tenant or another party. In case of rental properties, payment of utility bills is between the owner and the tenant. If utility bills are not paid at the end of the year, the amount will be assessed to the property taxes.
